Our Basic Pistol Program will cover all the material needed to obtain your CCW permit in Colorado. The program will focus on mindset, decision making processes, firearms safety, shooting fundamentals, range safety, main components of a pistol, ammo and weapon malfunctions, and ends with range qualification and training drills.
This class is for people with previous firearms training and/or experience. Students must feel comfortable manipulating and handling their pistol. Prerequisites would be a basic pistol course, CCW course, and/or being proficient at shooting 8" groups at 10 yards. The course will cover proper draw from the holster, immediate action drills to fix malfunctions, proper reloads, different target areas and targets of opportunity. The course will be 4-6 hours, students need to bring 200 - 250 rounds of ammunition. This course will be a prerequisite to attended the Advanced Pistol Course.
This course will be coming summer of 2023. The course will cover shooting on the move, properly utilizing cover and concealment, multiple threat engagement, strong and support hand shooting, shooting from multiple positions.
This course will be coming summer of 2023. This course is developed from the TCCC course taught to Military personnel deploying overseas. It has been changed to apply to the civilian world. It will cover basic first aid, how to treat injuries which could be sustained during a shooting or other critical incident. This is a great course for anyone who carries a firearm, avid hunter or just wants to know how to help someone if they find themselves in the middle of a critical incident i.e. mass shooting.
This is a completely personalized class that will be taught in your home with a laser training system. This class will give you the basic foundation to have and execute a plan that works for you and your family. We will cover home security, developing a plan for you and your family in the event someone breaks into your home, defensive shooting, and Colorado law in regards to self defense incidents.
Nathan Erwin is a former Law Enforcement Officers with 7 years of experience. In addition to his patrol officer duties, Nathan operated for 2.5 years on the department's S.W.A.T. Team as a medic, establishing and creating operating procedures for the medic position, and taking part in multiple S.W.A.T. operations and warrant services. He also served as a certified Taser Instructor and CQB Safety Instructor.
Nathan is a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Instructor an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and an NRA Range Safety Officer.
Nathan Served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years as a Navy Corpsman where he had the privilege of helping his fellow service members at Walter Reed Medical Center and Balboa Naval Medical Center.
Nathan currently works as a Firefighter/EMT for a Fire Department in Colorado. He created Castle Firearms & Training to help educate, train and empower both new and experienced firearm owners.
We believe in not only teaching the skills necessary for safe firearms handling and operation, but also developing mindset, situational awareness, and decision making processes. We believe developing both the physical and mental skills needed for carrying and operating a firearm are essential to your ability to protect yourself and your family.
Classes will be held at Ben Lomond Gun Club in Elbert County, which is located 45 miles from Castle Rock, 47 miles from Parker, and 43 miles from Colorado Springs. More information will follow upon registration.
